Involving local schools and colleges

The Community Rail Partnership works closely with local schools, colleges and youth organisations in order to encourage a greater awareness of the line and its importance to the community.  If you or your school, college or organisation is interested in getting involved with the Community Rail Partnership, please do not hesitate to contact the Partnership Development Officer via our Contact Us page.

We can arrange special trips for school groups and provide transport for school trips.  The Community Rail Partnership also works with schools to provide artworks to brighten up stations. as well as projects that tie in with the school curriculum and benefit your school. Including safety on the railway, learning to purchase tickets, read timetables and volunteering.

In 2018, three of the local school in the area ‘adopted’ their local stations.

We have worked with a number of colleges and the projects we worked on have won a number of awards at the annual national Community Rail Awards as well as producing permanent works at a number of the stations.

For many of the children it could be their first train journey and we look forward to welcoming all on-board !
