Get involved in the Abbeyline Summer Community Rail Carnival

Written by EdnaW on . Posted in Latest News

The Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership would like to invite you to take part in our annual Summer Community Engagement Event.
This will be our fourth summer event and this year, it will be celebrated as part of the Hertfordshire Year of culture and our local railway.
The theme for us this year is ‘Carnival’ and will be held on 11th July 2020 at Bricket Wood. We are therefore inviting local schools, colleges and Community youth groups to take part and celebrate with us.
How to get involved
a. Design and create a banner, carnival puppets, headpieces /costume and display this on the day. To help your school / group / college with this project, we are giving out grants between £50 and £150. Send your project idea to us for a grant consideration and if your project qualifies, we will be happy to support this.
In your proposal please give us a brief introduction to your school / college or community group, what you have chosen to design and why Please also include a preliminary design and outline of the materials you will be using to achieve your finished piece.
We would ask that if possible, you include an element that links to the local Abbey line in your project.
Please also confirm that you are able to attend the carnival to display your hard work!
Timelines
Please send your project grant request to us by 30th March 2020.
We will reply to you by 30th April 2020.
Grants made available soon after.
Project updates to us by 12th June 2020

b. Your school/ college or Community group can showcase your talents at the carnival. So if you have a band, singers or dancing group and would like to volunteer to take part, please let us know and we’ll send you the booking details. We are particularly looking for music and dance with a Latin American feel to fit in with the theme of carnival, but we welcome all to be part of this day.
So share this with friends, family, schools and groups and we look forward to hearing from you.
We hope you would like to be part of our wonderful Summer Community Rail Carnival.
