Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership Art & Photography Competition 2017
Rules and Terms and Conditions
The subject for the Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership (ALCRP) Photographic Competition 2017 is ‘Love your Community Rail ‘ and the aim is for our Community to capture through art and photos their use of the service and stations. The theme is open to individual interpretation, but entries must include any or all of the 7 stations along the line.
The competition is open to primary and secondary schools within the boundaries of the Abbey Line namely Watford, Garston, Bricket Wood, How Wood, Park Street and St Albans Abbey only. There will be two categories (i) Primary school years 4 – 6 (ii) Secondary school years 7 -11. The winner in each category will receive the following prizes;
- 1st Prize – 1st Class family ticket (maximum 5 people) from any station on the Abbey line to London Euston, £15 book tokens for the entrant and £40 book tokens for your school.
- 2nd Prize – Standard class family ticket (maximum 5 people) from any station on the Abbey line to London Euston, £10 book tokens for the entrant and £30 book tokens for your school.
- 3rd Prize – 2 Standard class tickets from any station on the Abbey line to London Euston, £10 book tokens for the entrant and £20 book tokens for your school.
Entrants can submit one photo no larger than A4 as prints, in colour or black and white. Electronic images cannot be accepted. Art work can be paintings, colouring pencils, felt pens or pencils. No entries can be returned and proof of posting is not proof of receipt.
Each entry should be marked with ALL of the following: name, full postal address, contact telephone number (both daytime and evening), email address, year category and where the photo /art work was taken or a brief description. The can be on separate sheet or the entry sheet available online or through schools but must be attached to the entry, please do not staple as it may ruin your entry.
Schools can collect and submit their entries together on behalf of their entrants.
Images may be digitally enhanced to remove spots or scratches, but not manipulated. Entrants can enhance the picture to make it brighter, clearer etc., but not manipulate the content. All entries must be the original work of the entrant.
Entrants must not be professional photographers and for the purposes of this competition, a professional photographer will be considered to be someone who makes more than half their annual income from the sale of their photographs.

Only postal entries will be accepted. The competition closes at 5pm on Friday 10th March 2017.
Late entries will not be entered.
The ALCRP reserve the right to amend or interpret the rules in the interests of the competition. In all matters the decision of the ALCRP is final.
The winning entries will be chosen by a group of independent judges and their decision will be final. The winner will be announced by 31st March 17 (this is subject to change).
IMPORTANT- Entrants, parents and carers must take every care when on and about the train stations. Ensure no one goes on the track or lineside under any circumstances. All rules and signs at stations must be adhered to and no responsibility for anyone’s safety will be taken by ALCRP when taking part in this competition and on railway premises.
